COUPLE LOST IN STORM LIVE IN ABACO YOUTH 

Buddy and Kay Smith, longtime members of the Bahamas' sailing community who were killed in Belize while participating in rescue efforts during Hurricane Keith, are now being memorialized by their friends. Start up funds have been made available, and donations are being solicited, to begin the "Buddy & K Memorial Scholarship" The first of the "Buddy & K" scholarships will be awarded during the 2002 academic year. Pathfinders will be responsible for administering the funds and awarding select scholarships. Full details concerning applications will be made in the future. Those wishing to make donations specifically to the "Buddy & K Scholarship" only need to make the notation at the bottom of the check.

Kenneth Strachan graduated from S.C. Bootle High School in 1998 and then attended the College of the Bahamas until 2000.  He has since been attending full time at McGill University in Canada, majoring in biology, while working part time for a doctor in Montreal. Kenneth has been selected as the recipient of the Buddy and Kay Smith Scholarship, which is administered by Pathfinders. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Adderley of Fire Road.
